While my entire career was in academia, I am more a semiotician by training and by passion. I spend my days decoding symbols, chasing metaphors, and asking too many questions about why these symbols are the way they are. Originally from Egypt and now based in Canada, I am trying to make sense of a new culture with its endless symbols.
