Chris William Martin is an Ottawa, Canada-based sociologist, semiotician, writer, and researcher. He is a Professor (Social Sciences) at Algonquin College. His published works appear in journals like Traumatology, The Public Journal of Semiotics, and for publishers like Sage and Oxford University Press. He is the author of the book The Social Semiotics of Tattoos: Skin and Self (2020 as paperback). He is currently working on a book about the semiotics of graffiti and putting together an edited volume tentatively titled Kindness in the Helping Professions: Power, Responsibility, Challenges.
